Keira

Isn't she lovely? Keira is a female Moluccan Cockatoo, wild-caught. She is at least 40 years old, so still in her prime, and plenty active! She's a friendly girl, and has been called "very sweet", at least to her human buddies. She has shown aggression with other birds, and wouldn't do well in a home with any smaller birds. Keira is on medication, and while she's been non-aggressive about taking them so far she would do well in a home that has some experience with larger parrots and providing birds medication, or someone very dedicated to learning and providing plenty of enrichment and space for her. She's fully-flighted, but hasn't really shown much interest in using those giant wings. She could be a great bird to harness train, which would make her world all the bigger and more beautiful - just like her! Keira will require a cage AT MINIMUM twice her wingspan (78"). An 80x40 would suit her well. Bonus points if you also have an outdoor aviary. $200 of Keira's adoption fee will go to enrolling her new family in Level One and The Parrot Project at The Animal Behavior Center to provide plenty of online support and educated guidance. ***If you're interested in Keira please fill out an application at http://heartcockatooranch.org, and provide a home video of the main areas she'll be living.
