My Story

Amos & Andy are wonderful grey tabby brothers who were turned into a shelter because their family was moving. They've been neutered and declawed. We're glad we could rescue them from being euthanized. They are fabulous lap cats. Their first foster mom said they are both EXTREMELY affectionate and their current foster mom agrees wholeheartedly. They follow you all over and purr if you even look at them! We don't know which is Andy and which is Amos for sure. If you look at the photo of both of them, we're calling the guy on the left Amos although it's sure hard to tell them apart! One brother has this cute little thing that he does when he wants attention - he gets up on his hind legs and kind of rubs his front paws together, and lets out this tiny little meow... it's one of the most adorable things we've ever seen a cat do.

On the issue of their size... they're both very big boys weighing 18 lbs., but at the same time are very cute and cuddly. In any case, their weight problem would be remedied quite easily with lower-cal food and a meal-feeding approach (as opposed to the "all you can eat buffet" style they're clearly used to!). Given the opportunity they would just eat and eat!

We've seen that the presence of a friendly, calm dog stresses them out terribly so we think they would do best in a home without a dog. If a potential adopter had an elderly, very quiet dog, we'd be willing to let them try but otherwise the stress on these big fellows is too great. Likewise with small children - they would probably be fine with older children, but active youngsters are a bit too much for them.

There's no question about them needing to go to a forever home together. They're very bonded to one another and lie together and groom one another regularly. These boys have had three foster homes (through no fault of their own) and are really ready for their forever home. Everyone agrees that they're the sweetest cats you'll ever meet. If you'd like to share your life with two wonderful, friendly and loving boys who really need a good break, please contact us and we'll introduce you. You'll be rewarded with a lifetime of purrs and friendship.

We're delighted to say that Amos and Andy have gone to their new forever home October 12, 2004!
