My Story

Annie was found huddled together with another cat (Oliver) on the side of the road. A good Samaritan stopped to help them and then called HART. When she came into the foster home she was terrified and hungry. She needed a safe, quiet space to decompress and adjust to regular food and water. After a few weeks, she started to play with her foster family! She was still very scared and would run if you moved too quickly but she was making progress and feeling more comfortable. We found out the quickest way to her heart is through treats! Annie loves treats! She can't get enough and will come running to you to get more! We have had her in foster care for a few months now, and there is a huge difference from when she first came to us! Annie loves to be pet and will purr and knead as long as she is in a space where she feels safe. Routine goes a long way with her! She is always waiting for me in the same spot every morning and we start the day with a nice pet/back scratch session. She butts her head into my hand and just purrs and purrs. She is very playful and can't resist a shoestring or wand toy! When it is just the family in the house she feels comfortable roaming around, playing, gazing out the windows, and just living her life! Annie is still very tentative and will startle easily. Sudden movements and loud noises can be scary! She does tend to hide when new people come to visit, but she will come back out after a while and go back to whatever she was doing. Annie does well with the resident cats and doesn't mind the resident dog either (though he is pretty calm and very good with cats), though she would be fine as an only cat as well. She generally just ignores the other animals. Every now and then I will catch her engaging with one of the other cats, but she usually prefers to be on her own. I don't believe she would do well in a home with small children since she is easily scared by sudden movements and noises. I think she will do best in a calm, quiet home where she is given time to adjust. Annie is a very low maintenance cat who would make a great companion! Annie is around 1-2 years old and is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. All HART kittens and cats are vet checked, combo tested, spayed or neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and on flea and tick preventative. If you are interested in any of our kitties, you must complete an online cat adoption application available at www.rescueahart.org/adopt/cat-application. The application will put you in touch with a HART volunteer.
