*** Ares is at the Cat & Craft cafe *** White w/orange tabby, short hair, neutered male, born approx. 7/1/21, #17214 Cats: likes Dogs: unknown Children: gentle kids probably fine Ares first came to Rescue House when he quite literally dropped into the lap of a volunteer while sleuthing out a new hiding spot in the ceiling of a restaurant in Tijuana. Soon after, Ares made the trek north and joined our crew at The Cat Caf downtown. A stone-cold tabby stunner, he was quickly adopted. Unfortunately, he recently found himself in need of a new home when their landlord evicted his mom, forcing her to move in with friends who are allergic to cats. They had a frank discussion about the realities of the housing crisis in San Diego, and afterwards, Ares agreed the best course of action would be for him to return to us. Although he is very sad about this unexpected twist of fate, we are holding his paw and guiding him on the journey that will lead him to his new family. Although named after the god of war, Ares is a lover, NOT a fighter. In fact, this peaceful dude is all about the cuddles! Ares is outgoing and talkative. At PetSmart Aero, he frequently would make his rounds in the room, meowing greetings to other cats and requesting pets from the volunteers caring for him. He was always an absolute gentleman and never lost his cool-even when some of the other residents spurned his outstretched paw and responded to his friendliness with some choice words. In terms of toys, he is a huge fan of wands and really enjoys the ball-in-track spinner. He often asked to keep it in his condo to entertain himself during the hours he was enclosed in there. For treats, he is partial to dried chicken bits, and he likes to indulge in catnip if it is on offer. Sprinkle a little on a scratching board for him, and he will be in heaven! A sweet and social fellow, what Ares adores infinitely more than the recreational nip (which he is quite fond of) is time spent with his people ... canoodling. Ares loves receiving attention and affection from you-he will soak up every drop like a little white sponge-with orange patches, of course! Stroke him, scratch him, and snuggle him ... Ares wants it all and will give you his unending devotion in return. This social stud gets along with other cats. We are not sure about dogs. Gentle children should be fine with him. Ares doesn't want to wage war, but he will conquer your heart! When should we tell this magnificent god that you will pick him up?
