My Story

Meet August! August is a very playful and affectionate kitty who really appreciates his pets! He enjoys cuddling while sleeping and loves all humans. He is very playful and energetic but also likes his nap times. August is super friendly and likes plenty of attention! August was born in February 2022. He is domestic short hair/tabby, grey/white. Neutered, UTD on shots, chipped. Good with other cats and dogs. *August is FeLV positive. Luckily for him, he has a "low" viral count, which means he has a very mild case. His veterinarian believes his chances for a normal life, with limited to no complications are very good! Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is a retrovirus belonging to the coronavirus subfamily, which affects a cat's immune system and ability to fight off secondary infections and viruses. Although there is no known cure for FeLV, supportive care can improve the quality of life, health, and longevity of cats with this virus. An infected cat may live free of FeLV-related disease for her entire lifetime, and secondary infections and diseases can often be treated as they occur. Once a cat has been diagnosed with FeLV, careful monitoring of weight, appetite, activity level, elimination habits, appearance of the mouth and eyes, and behavior is an important part of managing this disease. Any signs of abnormality in any of these areas should prompt immediate consultation with a veterinarian. Apply at pettalesrescue.com
