My Story

Introducing... Berlioz! Berlioz came to TCR as a kitten with several littermates, and he is finally ready to find his forever home! Berlioz is a playful and friendly boy, who can be a little timid at first. He likes to hang out under things while surveying the situation. When he feels comfortable he will run out to enjoy some pets, which is often. He is the "black sheep" of his family, having come into our care with five white siblings... and two white moms! Once Berlioz adjusts to a new family, we are sure that he will be out and about wanting lots of affection, petting, and playtime. He can be very expressive about how much he loves love! Berlioz is currently being fostered with three of his littermates and gets along well with all of them. He would love to be adopted with one of them, or to a home with another friendly cat he can play with. He has not yet met a dog during his time in foster. We think that he would do well in a home with respectful kiddos. Berlioz is about 1.5 years old. He has been neutered, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested FIV/FeLV-. He was successfully treated for ringworm while in our care. Please apply for this sweet boy (and a littermate?) today! Disclaimer: Berlioz came to TCR with one littermate who was diagnosed with FIP many months ago. FIP is caused by a commonly contracted feline coronavirus (FeCV), which must mutate within the cat to become FIP. FIP can have a genetic component, making some littermates more susceptible to succumbing to the disease. FIP most commonly occurs in cats younger than 1.5 years of age. Berlioz (and littermates) are currently healthy, but to be overly cautious we would want to discuss the typical symptoms of FIP and what to watch out for with any interested adopters. For more information on FIP, please read these articles: https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/cornell-feline-health-center/health-information/feline-health-topics/feline-infectious-peritonitis https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2020/05/remdesivir-cats/611341/
