My Story

Betsy, young spayed female Siamese/DSH mix. Special Needs. Betsy arrived at the shelter as so many orphaned kittens do, in a cardboard box with her siblings, all malnourished and riddled with parasites, pathogens and opportunistic infections. An experienced and dedicated veterinary team addresses all of these challenges while the kittens remain in quarantine to be cared for, often for extended periods of time. Betsy needed extra care and was brought into foster care to heal in a quiet environment and to free up staff’s time to take care of more animals in need. Betsy stayed in foster care while trying to resolve a chronic sensitive digestion issue that the vet thought might be a result of auto-immune problems related to the deprivation she suffered when so very young. A combination of Iam’s Sensitive Digestion and skin kibble with an added fiber supplement (Glandex) finally straightened her out and she is ready to be adopted at last! Due to her need to be on a strict special diet, Betsy is considered “Special Needs”. In her foster home she has lived in a large cage with a wonderful view in the middle of the house, unable to mix with the other foster kittens, resident cats and one very sleepy old dog due to the presence of other food that could make her sick. She loves lounging on her hammock watching all the activity below and love being held and would adore being an only cat that gets to roam and rule the house and snuggle all the time. Betsy is now ten months old, spayed, microchipped and UTD on vaccines. If you are interested in adopting this beautiful girl, call or text her adoption coordinator Alex at 330-261-3934 to start the process and set up an appointment to meet. Betsy's adoption donation is $45. Please keep in mind that we try to match your application and lifestyle with a cat that best suits your home.
