My Story

What would I sing if I were a caged bird? “I want to fly!” Maya Angelou wrote a poem called “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.” She said the bird sang because it wanted freedom. I am named Bird because of that poem. I’m a 3-month-old brown tabby male kitten. My siblings and I were all born to a mama named Maya. We arrived at the shelter on the anniversary of the great poet’s death, so we are named in honor of her. We were all found in a man’s workshop in a shed in Dover. He and his wife took good care of us. When we got to the shelter, the people here found a foster home for us to go to, but now we are ready to be adopted. If I could fly, I surely would! I love to jump on whatever is in the room. If there were a high jump track event for kitties, I would get a gold medal! I’m a star eater too! I love playing, and I especially love wand toys. Please make sure you have some good ones for me to play with. I’ll be chirping with happiness when I get to “fly” home to be your handsome little Bird. Adoption fee $150 + microchip fee $30 + tax
