Bonita Spirit (In Foster)

Bonita Spirit As the longest member of the HSHC roster of cats, 325, as of today, I have quite a story. On August 20, 2023! I was a stray picked up by a kind man in Westfield. I am now an 8-year 10-month-old female kitty who has never had a real home. Please don't ask me how I have survived all this time, cause I don't know! I know I had a horrible infestation of lice and ear mites and needed to have all my teeth removed. Who knows how many kittens I've had since I was never spayed? I never had the opportunity to learn the fine art of being a pet cat, and I needed to gain social skills. I had my health issues and spay surgery taken care of and was moved into a foster home to help me learn to be sociable. My foster mom is happy to report the following significant progress! She is very affectionate but is still not a lap cat. She's gaining confidence but is just a nervous girl at baseline. She's very curious and loves scratches, pets, and independent play. She's also incredibly adorable; it looks like the printer ran out of ink while making her! She needs an owner who understands they probably won't be able to hold her. (I've tried so hard to crate-train her). But she's not a "hide under the couch" cat anymore. She's very much around and would be a lovely face for a busy person to come home to or for an older child (10+) to build a sincere bond with. I could see a patient kid spending lots of time on the floor with her to win her over and enjoy seeing her confidence blossom. She definitely doesn't match the "mean" reputation she got when she was first at the shelter. My ideal home is quiet, without lots of foot traffic or a hectic environment.
