Boomer and Buddy Guy

Buddy Guy (5 year old, 16lb orange tiger) and Boomer (4 year old, 15lb black w/white) were rescued by Whiskers fall 2023. This is their story from the kind woman who was caring for them outdoors: I started feeding Buddy Guy and Boomer spring of 2022. They were very cautious at first staying up on the hill to eat, but came regularly both morning and evenings for meals. Buddy Guy was the first to approach me and get close enough to run a hand down his back. Everyday Buddy Guy wanted more and more attention, enjoying the petting more than the food. He would be waiting for my car when I pulled in the driveway. Boomer took longer to come around, but as he watched Buddy Guy become more comfortable, he decided to rub on the back on my legs when I was crouched down. Eventually, he let me pet him on his head and neck, and would try to keep Buddy Guy at bay so he could get more of my attention. These boys are now in a foster home and are listed for adoption together. They took a little over a month to come out of their shell in their new environment but now enjoy pets and affection from their foster mom. We understand it will take some time to find the right home for these two large, former Tom cats turned love bugs together, but feel since they’ve survived the streets of Cohoes for a few years now, and chose to stay together, they should continue to be together. Buddy Guy is the more people centered and Boomer learns to trust people through modeling Buddy Guy’s behavior. They would do best in a home with an experienced cat person who is willing to give them the time they will need to adjust to another change. They need a home with no dogs or young children and would enjoy a less active environment. These two boys will be very affectionate and grateful once they settle in to their new home.
