My Story

It’s hard to know where to start with Bucky's story. Even for a rescue like ours which takes in some of the hardest cases, Bucky's story is notable. A Good Samaritan found him in terrible condition on her porch. She tried to find help for him and, believe it or not, the county animal department told her to shoot him! He was so sweet she just wasn’t going to do that and kept trying to find a rescue to save him. Eventually, Bucky found his way to us and our amazing vet team got to work immediately. One front leg and part of his tail could not be saved and had to be amputated. His fur was so matted, it just had to be shaved off. (Yes, he is a longhair tho you might not believe it right now!) We also had to settle down his G.I. system since who knows what he was trying to eat to live on. Thanks to terrific vet care, overwhelming support from caring animal lovers across the entire country who learned his story, and his own determination, we can finally declare Bucky ready for adoption! He is thriving on his prescription diet and a daily anti-anxiety pill which he takes in his food with no problem. In fact, you could probably bury the kitchen sink in his food dish, and he would eat it! This boy is just the funniest food hound! Now that he has food, he’s probably stoking up just in case it disappears on him. ;). But, as fond as he is of his food, he loves petting and affection waaay more! Bucky has become quickly adept at being a tripod and already plays with his toys. He is being fostered in a multi cat household and is doing well with the other cats. He is still skittish, especially with sudden movement or noise or new things so whoever adopts him must realize that and be prepared to be patient and work with him. We also don't think he would do well in a home with young children right now. He will love your petting and give you head butts and purrs in thanks. Ear rubs are his personal fave. LOL. Bucky is an amazing cat, a really sweet, true survivor who deserves tons of love in his forever home. If you think you have the right home for this special guy who has been through so much, let us know.
