My Story
Cambric is a seven to eight month old seal lynx point himalayan kitten. He is neutered, front paw declawed, FIV/FELV negative and has been wormed, vaccinated and flea treated. After being neutered and declawed, Cambric began having seizures and, ultimately, becoming completely blind. It is believed that this may have been due to a delayed anesthesia reaction. The seizures have ceased, but the blindness is permanent. His owners did not want a cat that was "disabled" and ask their vet to euthanize him - thankfully the vet convinced the owners to instead relinquish Cambric to the clinic. And from there he came into rescue - where he will find a forever, permanent home that will love and care for him - in spite of his "disability"!! Cambric is doing wonderfully - he is getting around the whole house without any problems at all. He does great with other animals too! I would NOT recommend young/small children or a very busy/chaotic household due to Cambric's blindness (he can't see to get out of the way!). Adoption donation - $200. Sorry, we do not ship our cats or provide any transportation. All potential adopters should reside in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, or Louisiana. We will not adopt outside of those states. Who We Are: We are a not-for-profit organization who is committed to helping Persians, Himalayans, exotic shorthairs, and ragdolls. All of our expenses are funded by personal and private donations. All of our cats are kept in foster homes - please note, we do not have a shelter facility, so appointments must be made prior to visiting foster homes. All of our cats are spayed/neutered, FIV/FELV tested, wormed, de-fleaed, and vaccinated prior to adoption.
Adoption Process: We require all potential adopters to fill out an adoption application prior to setting up an appointment to visit with the cat(s). We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. If you email us, we will provide you with an application by email.
Adoption Fees: Our adoption donation for persian, himalayan, exotic shorthair, ragdoll and Maine Coon breeds are as follows: for an adult cat is $150, a kitten is $175 to $275 - depending on age, gender, and breed of kitten. Other breeds may have differing adoption donation amounts. We occasionally have reduced fees - these will be noted on the individual cat's listing. If someone adopts more then one cat from us, we will reduce the subsequent adoption fee(s) by $25 to $50 (depending on age of cats/kittens adopted). The adoption fees help defray SOME of the costs associated with rescuing/fostering these kitties. Except for the persian, himalayan, and exotic shorthair cats listed on this site, South Texas Persian Rescue cannot guarantee the parentage or breed of cats on this site (unless otherwise noted that the cat is "purebreed"). Please note: if someone places a deposit on a cat/kitten to "hold" them until they are ready to go home, and the person changes their mind, the deposit is non-refundable - it is only refundable if the cat/kitten become unadoptable for some reason.
Donations are always welcome!
