My Story

Carmen is one of the nicest torties that you will ever meet. She is very sweet and affectionate and loves everyone. She came to us after she had kittens and no one wanted her any more. Her babies were only a week old and needed a lot of care. One of our foster moms was very eager to take her in and give her the love and care that she and her kittens needed to survive. As the kittens grew so did Carmen's personality. She hadn't realized that life could be so good with not living on the streets and having help with the babies. She became a wonderful girl and it was hard for the foster mom to give her up. But she knew that she could not keep her and was heartbroken. Carmen's kittens have all been adopted and now she is waiting for her turn to live the life to which she has become accustomed, with all the comforts and luxury of inside living. Carmen is around 5-6 years old.

The cost of spaying and shots, even rabies, is included in the adoption fee. All dogs have been tested heartworm negative and all cats feline leukemia and FIV negative. All of our animals have also been micro-chipped. The Quincy Humane Society is located on the Illinois border roughly 20 miles north of Hannibal, MO . While we will adopt animals to other states we will never ship an animal or allow an animal to be shipped. All adopters must meet the potential pet in person before the adoption is finalized. If for some reason you are not able to keep the animal, it will be returned to the Quincy Humane Society at the adopters expense. The cost of a health certificate ($5 - required by law for adoptions across state lines) is included in the normal adoption fee. www.quincyhumanesociety.org
