My Story

Spicy and sweet! Cascara Rough is that handsome bad boy you just can't resist! Surely YOU can be the one to turn him into a faithful lover boy, right? In Cascara's case, that's entirely possible! He's now in a loving foster home and his status has already changed to Recovering Bad Boy. At times, he wants to be left alone, and will swat if you try to engage with him. At others, he will happily swish around your legs, following you around until you settle down to pet him, at which point he will flop on his back and enjoy all the pets you can give him! Don't let his spiciness fool you -- he'll even accept belly rubs! He has even started sharing pre-bedtime snuggles with his foster mom and sleeping on her bed! See more about him on Instagram! @kitties.in.clarksville Cascara seems to be most receptive to affection in the morning and evening. Otherwise he's content to do his thing by himself. He's on the cautious side, but his curiosity about this wondrous place called a Home is beginning to outweigh his caution. Cascara is generally quiet, though he has started giving his foster squeaky little meows to ask to be let into the room where she is, or for pets, or just to say good morning! When he's in his swatty mood, he can often be distracted by a wand toy. He also enjoys biting soft little balls and carrying them around in his mouth. Cascara would do best in a quieter home with an adult or two who are experienced cat guardians. We fully expect that he will learn to leave his tough-guy street cat days behind him and more fully embrace the joys of a loving home. Cascara has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. He can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care. All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. For further information or to meet Cascara Rough, please email [email protected].
