Happy Summer! Kitten Season is in full swing again and we need to make room to get Moms and kittens (and older kitties too!) so we can get them fixed and find them homes! Please consider adopting- especially some of our older residents! Remember you save TWO cats lives and make countless more cats & kittens lives better by adopting! When you adopt one cat, it makes room to save another! Win! Win! The kitties thank you too! This is Cherry! Cherry is s a domestic longed tortoiseshell (tortie) female, up to date on her shots, around 1 year old and available for adoption to be an indoor ONLY cat from Griffith Animal Control/Treasured Friends Rescue in Northwest Indiana! Helllllo! Cherry is my name! I'm very petite and I'm a real tortie, so I'm pretty unique! I really love being brushed so my long, soft fur always looks and feels good! I was found living outside by a nice person who started feeding me because I was skinny. I never knew where my next meal was coming from or where I would be safe. The person who fed me also let me hang around, but they weren't able to take me in. I'm soooo lucky because they got me help and hopefully now I'm in my way to getting a forever home!! I'm trying to make the most of being at the shelter, I'm friendly, love pets and to play! But, I would really like a forever home and a person (or family!) that will love me so I can have pets all the time...and play whenever I want! I'm a cute and happy- go- lucky sweet girl! I'm not a kitten, but I have lots of love to give and I want to catch up on all the play time I missed out on because I was outside just trying to survive. I'm at the shelter, so please come by to see me! I have my own "room" there and we can meet! I like other kitties, so a home with another younger kitty (with the proper introduction) who wouldn't mind playing sometime would be great! However, probably NO dogs. Our fosters & volunteers work with shy and/or unsocialized kitties everyday to get them used to being pet and to show them no one will hurt them. However, when they go to a new home, some kitties will require extra time to get used to new surroundings and different people. Please consider giving a kittie who might need a little time to get used to a new home, a chance. This is a serious commitment and it sets the kitties back in their level of trust if they are given up after a few weeks or months.
