My Story

***AT SHELTER*** Charming Chickadee is chirping for you! Chickadees are popular North American birds with distinctive black markings. These cute little creatures charm people with their curiosity and friendliness. Our charming Chickadee caught the attention of some kind souls who rescued him from the outdoors and brought him to a local municipal shelter. He might not know how to fly because he has sleek black fur instead of feathers (and because he's a cat), but his rescue flight landed at EHS, where he is now enjoying the benefits of indoor life. Chickadee is excited to tweet you the good news! "I have recently graduated from the Skittish Cat socialization program!" At first Chickadee was somewhat nervous and apprehensive when approached by volunteers. Now Chickadee is gaining in confidence every day. He is a brave and curious boy who enjoys exploring his surroundings. He has come a long way, and volunteers describe him as "super outgoing." He rubs his body against volunteers to greet them. He is vocal when wanting pets with the back-scratcher and he will accept hand pets when approached calmly. He even enjoys having his shiny black coat brushed. Chickadee would like to tell you that unlike his namesake he is not very fond of sunflower seeds, but he likes to lick tube treats and also eats treats given by hand. Chickadee has revealed his playful side and any toy will do! Like many cats, Chickadee may give a little hiss or swat if nervous or overstimulated. He has shown some interest in his shelter mates, so it's possible he may like a feline friend in his new home. Chickadee is looking for a forever home with a new family that has some knowledge about reading a cat's body language and that is prepared to help him develop his confidence. Due to his timid nature, he would probably do best in a calm, quiet home without small children or dogs. If necessary, EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Chickadee with a successful transition to his new home. Will Chickadee feather his forever nest with you? Fill out an adoption application today to find out! -------------------- The adoption fee for a single cat at EHS is $175. Take home an adult feline friend for your kitty and the adoption fee for the pair is $300! For kittens under six months of age, the adoption fee is $200...Or double your cuteness quotient and adopt two wee furballs for $350! If you mix and match (kitten plus cat), the adoption fee is $300. Each of our cats is spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, snap tested for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption. Kittens are not spayed or neutered until 5 months of age, but the cost of spay/neuter will be covered as part of the adoption. -------------------- Interested in adopting Chickadee? It's easy!
