Hi there, I'm Cleo. On Valentine's Day I was pulled out of an outdoor structure that I had been living in for 3 years next to my owner's house. It kept rain off my head, and that was about it. I used to be a sweet cat, and I used to have a family that would pet me. But then they just put me away, and would give me food and water, then I'd watch them walk away. My brain grew weary over the years, and I can only liken it to being in prison. When True Rescue brought me out, I went a little "crazy" at the shelter upon being put in a decompression kennel in The Atrium. Apparently, it is pretty common, on account of going from knowing only one small space my whole life, to then being introduced to a lot of stimulation. I acted horribly...oh my, I really did, now that I think back. I'd like to publicly apologize to the volunteers that I ran after with my claws out. I was out of my head, really and truly. I'm coming around now, and I'm allowing the other cats to touch noses with me. It's been baby steps, but decompression takes a while. There are a lot of cats like me that live here at True Rescue. We might not meet you at the door, or jump right onto your laps when you come into the building. But if you take a chance on cats like me, you will find your best friend. You will find loyalty and love beyond your wildest dreams, even if it takes some time.
