My Story

Are you looking for a curious cat of your own? Meet Madame Curie! Curie is a sweet girl who is growing and flourishing more every day. Curie can be a little overwhelmed by new friends and new places, but she has shown incredible progress while in a foster home. At first, Curie was a shy cat who wanted to stay in her hiding spots, but with patience and love from her foster, she has grown to adore getting pets and attention. All she needed was some time and space to settle in - she won't say no to a tasty treat, either! When she opens up and feels comfortable in her new home, Curie will show you that she is a very sweet and playful cat! She may always be a bit timid with unfamiliar people, so making slow, steady and patient introductions is the way to win her over. Once someone becomes her friend, she even loves belly rubs and playing tug-of-war with them! Curie is also very smart and may be quite trainable - she even knows to go inside her carrier for a treat when you point and say, "Inside!" Curie would do best in a quiet home with a patient adopter who can help her come out of her shell. Adopters should use a slow approach and avoid forced interactions with Curie. Does this clever girl sound like the purr-fect addition to your home? This suggested adoption fee allows the ASPCA to continue our lifesaving work and help even more animals in need. We are grateful for any and all amounts given at the time of adoption.* For more information on adopting from the ASPCA, please visit www.aspca.org/adoptionsteps. **The ASPCA is committed to prioritizing the health and safety of the community, the animals in our care and our staff, and we are keeping a close eye on developments related to the COVID-19 crisis as they evolve. As such, the ASPCA Adoption Center in New York City is currently closed for in-person visitors. However, we are excited to offer remote adoptions using video conferencing! In-person meet-and-greets are also sometimes available or required for specific animals. Please check out our available cats and dogs above, and if one catches your eye, apply directly for him or her. An ASPCA Matchmaker will let you know if the animal you are interested in adopting is eligible for or requires an in-person meet-and-greet. Please note: Adoption applications are handled in the order they are received and submitting an adoption survey does not constitute a hold or guaranteed adoption. You can expect to receive automated emails updating you on your adoption status as our Matchmakers go through applications. Thank you for your patience, and we hope you find your match!**
