My Story

REQUIRED, NO EXCEPTIONS: Any current pets must be up to date on vet care, including vaccinations. Adopter must reside within a 30 minute drive of Caroline's foster home (Central West End, St. Louis) in order to be within driving distance to complete the home visit portion of our process.** **VET REFERENCE REQUIRED** Meet the beautiful Lady Caroline Collingwood! Caroline is a small (7.5 lbs), sweet little ma'am who we believe to be approximately two years old. She is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, and a happy, healthy kitty. Lady Caroline came to the St. Louis Senior Dog Project in June of 2023 after having a very difficult start in life. She was born into a cat hoarding situation in Jefferson County and lived there for her first year of life without much care at all. SLSDP went in to save the kitties they could (some had passed away), and they found Caroline nursing a few kittens who didn't appear to be her own. We think Caroline gave birth sometime in March/April 2023, most of the kittens likely passed away, and once she'd weaned the 1-2 kittens who did survive from her litter we believe she allowed two baby boy kittens in need to nurse and took on the care of them as well. (It's possible their own mamas passed away earlier on; we don't know.) Caroline and her two tiny adoptive babies (they've since been adopted!) were taken in by one of SLSDP's foster homes together. Slowly but surely, all three started to feel healthier, better, and spicier! They learned what it's like to always have food available and ready for them, how to play with toys, and how to use their litter box. Caroline specifically LOVES playing with the fishpole toy with her foster mom and loses her mind over a good cat nip mouse (and cat nip in general)!! While you might think Caroline would be shy or scared due to her background, she is not at all! She looooves people so much and will come right up to greet her foster parents without hesitating. She does well with other cats, but does seem to prefer calm, non-dominant, not-super-playful cat friends. She enjoys snuggling with other kitties, just seems to start to get stressed when cats try to force her to play. She's an old soul and enjoys her space. Caroline met some indoor bunny rabbits and basically just ignored them, and she does the same with the dogs in her foster home. Because she's so small, we would ideally like to avoid a home with very large dogs. As long as dogs don't get in her face and are respectful, Caroline is all good! If you'd like to adopt Lady Caroline Collingwood, please review our adoption process and fill out our cat/critters adoption application at www.stlsdp.org. Lady Caro can't wait to meet you!!
