My Story

Malcolm originally came to HHR after being rescued by a fellow rescuer. He was adopted quickly but returned 5 months later because he had an infection in his mouth. Apparently Malcolm had been "drooling for a while" and his adopters finally took him to their vet weeks/months later. They chose to relinquish him back to HHR when they learned he needed a dental. Malcolm did indeed need a dental- but the expense associated was mostly because the infection had been left untreated for a while. Our veterinarians found the cause- two infected teeth that caused the surrounding tissue to become badly infected, almost rotted! With proper antibiotics and removal of those teeth, Malcolm is doing beautifully. Unfortunately, this infection was allowed to manifest for a bit and Malcolm's kidney suffered some damage. His veterinarian is hoping we can get things back in normal range, but there is a chance that Malcolm may need a kidney friendly diet and/or supplements to help keep his kidneys working best. Malcolm is a gentle, friendly boy looking for a forever home. He gets along fine with other cats and would be fine with children as well. No dogs for Malcolm! He is about 7 years. He is neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, microchipped, feline leukemia negative, FIV positive, and is current on flea/tick preventative. Interested in meeting Malcolm? Please complete an adoption application at: www.HalfwayHomeRescue.org. Adoption donation $250.
