Merle

Updated 7/22 Hi, I'm Merle! I came to the shelter as a stray with my brother Daryl. We were both under socialized, but my foster mom has been working with us a lot and I am proud to say that I'm doing much better! I now run to the door to greet my foster mom. I like to rub on legs and chirp until I receive the pets and attention I want. I don't mind being held but I can't sit still for long! I learned that getting pets and scratches is actually pretty nice. When I'm tired, I don't mind laying on laps. I have the loudest purr! I really enjoyed having a brother to cuddle and play with so I really wouldn't mind a new sibling! My brother has been adopted and I am now by myself, I would love to find a home soon so I'm not all alone. Due to my background I need someone who is willing to show patience and kindness. I would do best in a quiet home. Note from foster: I received Merle and Daryl back on 6/26. It took almost 2 weeks for Merle to let me pet him without hissing and I was worried that I would never get him to trust me. With treats and lots of love, Merle has done a complete 180. Especially with his brother gone now, Merle is craving a human bond now more than ever. He runs to greet me at the door and chirps at me when I enter. He rubs on my legs, purring until I sit down. He jumps on my lap, rolling around, basking in all the love and scratches. He will climb to my shoulder rubbing on my head and purring. If you think making biscuits is cute, wait until you see his air biscuits. Once Merle is in affection mode, even when he takes a break to eat or drink, the biscuits never stop. We do about 15 minutes of love and pets before he is ready to play. If you give him a chance, this little guy will steal your heart, just like he has done to me.
