Meet Andre. He was born in Puerto Rico and has spent almost half of his life living on the streeet, fending for himself.
Lucky for him, someone came along to save his life. Andre tested positive for both heartworm and tick fever but is being treated for both.
He will most likely stay in Puerto Rico until treatment is over, unless he can find a loving home in the States before then.
His guardian will fly him to an approved home in the US.
Andre is good with other dogs and would probably love to have a canine play mate.
He has not been tested with cats or children so its unknown how he is with them. He has been around horses and is ok with them
His foster mom writes:
Andre needs someone who will be patient with him as he
adapts to life with an owner. He is very smart and tries
hard to please his owner, but he is still learning basic
commands. Also, he needs someone who will monitor his health
closely because he may have relapses of Ehrlichia. Ideally,
Andre would have a home with a large yard. He loves being
outdoors, but he also enjoys sleeping by his owner's bed at
night. He is
accustomed to being around other dogs and would probably do
well in a home with another dog for companionship. Andre
needs a family that will play with him. He enjoys running
alongside people and playing tug-of-war. Also, he enjoys
running through water.
