Angel - Feb. 6, 2001 - Apr. 14, 2006
Sadly, Angel lost her 2 yr battle with cancer today. She passed over the rainbow bridge in the presence of her foster parents who have loved & cared for her all this time. She came to rescue in 2004 from an abusive home and after finding out she had cancer, her foster parents couldn't bear to part with her. They loved her for 2 long years - the best of her life. She spent her days joyfully playing, swimming and hunting and she will be sorely missed. Thank you to everyone who shared their kind words & prayers for Angel.
In honor Angel's life we have set up the Angels of Rescue Fund. Donations received are designated to care for sick or injured dogs we would otherwise have to turn away due to the high cost of vet bills. This fund will enable us to allow them into our program, care for them & find oving homes.
If you'd like to make a donation of any amount in honor of Angel to the Angels of Rescue Fund please send a check made payable to EGSPC Rescue to
Eastern GSPC Rescue Program
P.O. Box 6931
Hillsborough, NJ 08844.
Please reference "Angel" on the Memo line of your check.
Thank you for your support & for caring to make a difference in the life of a GSP in need of a little TLC & a whole lot of love.
Angel Update:
We have very sad news. Angel's tumor has returned. The cancer is quite aggressive & if we were to operate on it again she could lose control of her bowels. That would seriously reduce her quality of life and it's likely that the tumor would only return again. Her foster parents have decided to keep her for the rest of her days. She is not showing any signs of feeling ill at this time & will continue to enjoy hunting and playing with the resident dogs until she is no longer able. Thank you to everyone that shared their concern & support for Angel's recovery. Please keep her in your thoughts & prayers.
Anyone that would like to make a donation in the name of Angel may do so to our new Angels of Rescue Fund. We have created this fund in order to set money aside for costs that are above & beyond our routine procedures to enable us to take in or care for dogs that we would normally not be able to. Checks may be made payable to
EGSPC Rescue & sent to EGSPC Rescue, Angels of Rescue Fund, P.O. Box 6931, Hillsborough, NJ 08844.
Thanks so much for your support!!!
ANGEL is ready for adoption.
Update 11/04 - Angel is still doing very well since her surgery. She was adopted but returned because she was not getting along with the other female dog in the house. Her foster mom has 5 other dogs in the house, big & small, that are all female and they all get along just fine so we're not exactly sure what was going on in her new home, but it would probably be best that Angel be placed in a home where she is the only dog. We've also found that Angel is awesome in the field and absolutely loves to hunt!! Hunting homes are ok as long as she's kept as a pet first & foremost. Because of her high prey drive she can not go to a home with cats, small dogs or any other furry creatures.
See below for more info on this great girl!
Update 10/04 - ANGEL is recovering nicely from her surgery. She is the same happy, excitable, playful girl she's always been. Nothing seems to stop this retrieving maniac! She is now ready for adoption. The only concern is that the tumor has the possibility of returning. If it does not return within the next 9-12 months then it will most likely never return.

UPDATE: Angel is in foster care & doing very well. Has settled in quickly & quite nicely to her new strange environment. She listens VERY well & is a REAL SWEETIE! She loves to give kisses, play with toys & roll on her back for belly rubs. She also follows her foster mom around inside & outside too. She will give chase if she sees a squirrel, deer or rabbit, but her recall is very good & she seems happier to stay close by. She is not food or toy aggressive with people, but she will protect her food from other dogs at dinnertime but this is easily remedied by feeding her in her crate which is working quite nicely. Her foster mom said Angel is the best dog she's ever fostered!!
Angel is a 3 yr old 46lb happy girl. She came to us with Patches because her owner is moving & no dogs allowed. She is a very friendly girl & is also said to be good with kids. But, we suggest she go to a home with no toddlers because we can't verify if this is true. She knows some basic commands....she'll also sit for yummy treats...rides VERY well in the car, is crate trained & respects a 4 ft fence. Although she was kept outside most of her life she is very good in the house & respects the baby gates keeping her from the other rooms. Obedience training is mandatory to make her the perfect pet but it won't take much. Contact
[email protected] for an application if you'd like to adopt this Angel.
PLEASE HELP!: Angel needed an operation to remove a tumor. Due to the delicate nature of the location of the tumor, laser surgery was necessary and an anal gland was removed as well. <
> We also have rescued 4 other dogs within the past few months in need of serious medical care, boarding and/or rehabilitation. 2 dogs came to us from a shelter with Pneumonia (not yet well enough for adoption), Patches was so afraid of men that we've had to board him for almost 2 months & rehabilitate him and we saved Coco from euthanazia at a shelter where she was surrendered at 13 yrs of age in need of serious dental care and extractions. All of the dogs are making WONDERFUL PROGRESS, but their vet bills, boarding & rehabilitation, which has now cost us a FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS, has SERIOUSLY depleted our funds and will impact our ability to help other needy GSPs in the future. If we do not increase our funds at this time we will have to turn dogs away and that puts them at risk of euthanasia. We need your help desperately!!!! If you'd like to make a donation you can send a check made payable to EGSPC Rescue to Eastern GSPC Rescue Program, P.O. Box 6931, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. Donations of any amount are much appreciated. Every little bit helps!!! We thank you and the GSP's we save thank you too!
