Astro - Adopted

Astro's story makes me ashamed to be in the same species as the disgusting "humans" who did this to him!
Animal Control Officers seized Astro from his "owners" for severe neglect, malnutrition, and overall poor condition. He is BONE thin; has scaly skin with pronounced shedding (often occurs with poor quality food and filthy living conditions). He has big ugly callouses on both bony hips. Both ears are missing hair due to scratching ear mite infestations....
As a "court case" Astro was forced to be held in the shelter until a judge could hear his case...thank goodness for a compassionate judge who awarded Astro's ownership to the county. Canine Shelter Rescue could not get there quickly enough to get this sweet boy outta there!

Astro is just about the sweetest, most gentle dobe I've met. Once out of the shelter, he lays his nose and head anywhere on a human he can....amazing, uh? Despite the cruel inhumane treatment he has had at the hands of "humans", he still craves companionship and is capable of unconditional love...therein is the lesson DOGS teach us - forgiveness and unconditional love!

Astro is a purebred, black & tan dobe with docked tail and natural ears. He has beautiful, black, soulful eyes (cannot wait to see joy and fun in those eyes!). His teeth indicate that he is barely 1 yr old - if that.. He is on the smaller side - no doubt partially due to poor nutrition. He is VERY good with other dogs; walked right past the cats, and is almost intimidated by the small "yap-yap" dogs in his foster home.

As soon as Astro's physical condition improves somewhat; he will get his medical work done: Neutered, heartworm tested, all vaccines and wormings. PLEASE LOOK FOR UPDATES ON ASTRO'S CONDITION AND WHEN HE WILL BE READY FOR ADOPTION!!!

3/30/08- To help with Astro's confidence he has been enrolled in a 10 week training class. When he completes his class he will test for his "Good Citizenship" badge and certificate! We are confident this investment in his well being will help the true boy that he is come forward. Strong, Confident. Well Behaved. Loving.
