Candy

Candy is currently in a foster home in Amherst, NH and is eligible for meet and greets! Meet Candy! Candy is a 2 year old, female pit bull terrier mix who currently weighs 60 pounds. She is fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and ready to find a family to call her own! Candy is dog friendly and currently lives with another dog in her current foster home. In her foster home in TX, she lived with 3 other dogs and enjoyed playing with the little dog in the home. With bigger dogs, it's like she doesn't know how to play with them. We would say Candy has a moderate energy level. She enjoys playing fetch in the yard, but is also content relaxing on the couch and snuggling. Candy previously lived in a home with a cat and did really well! She mostly just left the cat alone. It has been a couple of months since she previously lived with a cat, so we'd be happy to conduct a meet and greet for any serious potential adopters with cats. Candy is super excited to meet people (children included) but she does sometimes jump on people out of excitement. She just wants to show everyone she loves them. We would suggest a home without children. Candy walks great on a leash with a harness. With her harness on, she'll stay right with her person. She LOVES to sniff, but will happily keep walking with a gentle tug. She's great about meeting other dogs on leash too! She doesn't react to seeing other dogs when out on walks. Candy is fully potty trained and is always sure to go potty outside. Candy is crate trained and does really well in the crate while her foster family is away from the home for work or errands. Candy enjoys going hiking with her human and snuggles on the couch. She currently lives with another dog, but definitely doesn't need another dog in her forever home, she just wants to be with her human. Candy is protective of her home and her people. She's GREAT about meeting strangers out on walks and hikes, but she needs to be crated while people come over to the home. She's happy to go into her crate with a bully stick and keep occupied. She doesn't even realize people are over! Here's a small blurb about Candy from her foster mom: I've never met anything that loves me as much as Candy does. If you're looking for a companion dog, Candy is your girl. She's a giant goofball who loves playing tug more than pretty much anything. She's a great hiking companion and I know she'd protect me to the ends of the earth. Candy is a lovebug! She's always up for an adventure and loves being in the woods. If she sees you even thinking about picking up a leash she'll be dancing next to the door, ready to go. She loves rope toys and playing tug, ripping apart toys with stuffing inside, and chewing on her chew toys. She is super smart and wants to learn, so training her is kind of a breeze.
