My Story

Sweet Caroline is officially ready for her forever family. This sweet hound girl came to us from our friends at Colleton County Animal Shelter. Her foster parents joined one of their pampered pup walks. When she tried to get in their car at the end of the walk, her foster dad, a hound lover, knew she had to come home with them. She was emaciated but has gained nearly 10 pounds in two months and is nearing her goal weight. We think she is about 2-3 years old and she is about 50 pounds. Here are some notes from her foster family: "Caroline is an absolute love and wants nothing more than to spend time with (and get affection from) people. She is happiest when you are holding her paw, something she will ask you to do often; with the quintessential hound eyes and long face her foster parents find themselves acceding to her demands more often than not. When Caroline first arrived at her foster parents she was constantly starving and her biggest issue was “counter surfing” for any food source she could find. As she bulked up this frenzy has let up but she is still extremely food motivated, a great indication for future training.Caroline gets along with both of her foster siblings, including an alpha/dog-selective GSP whose heart she has slowly but surely won over. She has never met a stranger and is excited to greet all visitors. She loves joining her foster sister on a morning walk but is also content to find a cozy spot on the couch to while the day away. She walks well on a leash and is potty trained. The fact that she is a hound is most apparent when you put her in her crate. Her foster parents put her in there when they are at work and other than loudly complaining until they leave the house, she has no issues hanging out there until they get back (at which point she would like to come out and tell you how much she’s missed you). Caroline is up to date on prevention and vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. She was heartworm positive when we pulled her but has completed her treatment.
