My Story

A huge thanks go out to all who helped Cindy make her way to her new home in Calgary! She and her new mom are now living happily ever after.

Message from Cindy's foster mom:

I received Cindy on Dec 28 2005 approximately three weeks after she had been found as a stray by the Coquitlam SPCA. This marked a pivotal moment in Cindy’s life that is most terrifying to contemplate.

She had been wandering streets alone, mourning the separation from her newborn pups. She lay in a shelter full of the unknown and left to wonder why her guardian never came to rescue her. Lost in the wake of her abandonment, while she lay healing from her altering surgery. The stress and fear is overwhelming to imagine. She was fearing the worst but her luck was about to change.

Rescue workers from the TNT Sharp Pei team met with Cindy to plan a brighter future. Once Cindy was out of the shelter she responded well. The fear was instantaneously lifted and calmness entered her eyes. She’s now embracing new experiences with ease, engaging herself in playful activity with both human and canine friends. She’s been introduced to a couple of rabbits as well and is working on getting used to other smaller fuzzy friends.

She is an excellent alert dog!! Barks are appropriate not excessive and she’d rather alert you by other means such as snorting and pacing when you are home. She waits for you to address her concern then her job is done.

When it comes to play she’s all HAM! She loves to engage in activity that is stimulating her mind as she is incredibly smart.. She knows some basic commands, but will need some training on leash and greeting behavior. She pulls a bit on the lead and will spring in the air when greeting you, but she is very willing to please you when correcting her. If someone will take the short time to train and nurture her potential she will be an all star pooch; in every way.

HER PICTURES DON”T DO HER JUSTICE! You just got to come and see her!

Cindy's history, the little we know of it:

Cindy is now with TnT Shar-pei Rescue in a loving foster home. Now that she is out of the shelter environment and in the comfort of a calm and quiet home she has already become a very different dog than she was at the shelter. She was a timid and scared girl but started coming out of her shell as she left shelter life behind her. Cindy's foster mom and brother, Max, another rescued Shar-pei, have all become fast friends. Her foster family and TnT will help her in every way we can to gain confidence and trust in people again. So far just the change since she left the shelter has been amazing.

Big thanks once again to the Virtue's for helping transport Cindy to her foster home. Also many thanks to her foster mom Linda and her furry family for taking sweet Cindy into their home.
