My Story

Meet Claret and Marsanne—a bonded pair adoptable together only--two doodle beauties that haven’t had an easy life until they came into rescue. These girls were part of a backyard breeder bust in Kentucky. These girls plus 5o more were living in deplorable conditions being used and neglected/abused (as you can see by their “before” pictures). They had to be shaved down as well as receive dentals with their standard vetting. They are both very sweet girls. They are a bonded pair—Claret relies on Marsanne for her confidence and security (she can be a bit shy and hesitant with new people and experiences). Marsanne appears to be a poodle (or high mix) she is around 6-7 years old and weighs around 55#. She is very loving and wants to be close to you all the time. Claret is a poodle mix (we think with golden retriever) and is around 2-3 years old and weighs around 40#. They do have extremely strong prey drives so ABSOLUTELY NO CATS OR OTHER SMALL ANIMALS IN THE HOME. They cannot be off leash because they will chase small animals (not dogs). They get along well with other dogs from puppies to seniors. They have been learning leash walking and ride well in the car. They are both learning the joys of being a member of a family. Here are the minimum requirements for their furever homes: • A home that is generally “low-key” • People that are committed to daily walks ON LEASH—NEVER OFF LEASH! • A fenced yard is not required (but would be a plus), however, they will need daily walks in a more quiet area as they are not used to “city” living. They can never be off leash due their prey drive • People that are willing to commit to adopting a bonded pair • People with an understanding of rescue dogs (no first time pet owners) • People that want loving pets to dote upon • This is a LONG-DISTANCE ADOPTION! New family must be able to pick up from the Northeast transport spot. Dogs are fostered in Kentucky and will travel to the NE on a USDA certified transport company. If you meet the basic requirements for adopting Claret and Marsanne, please email: [email protected] for an application. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval.
