My Story

From Cocoa's foster: Cocoa is a FANTASTIC dog, approx. 7 years old, and still full of energy and playfulness. He is completely housebroken, and crate trained. I do not usually crate him, and he has never chewed up anything in the house or had an accident, even after hours of being left unattended. He does not dig or nuisance bark, but he does alert (bark) when appropriate. He knows his basic commands and really does want to please his owner. Cocoa requires a somewhat active home. He would do best in a younger home that would include him in daily walks, hiking and/or camping trips, car rides, etc. He is a FUNNY dog. Because I have Shih Tzu puppies, Cocoa also thinks he is a tiny dog, and will climb into your lap (like it or not), roll over for belly scratches, and lick your face. He has stolen my bath towel after I got out of the shower and ran off into the other room with it, trying to get me to play with him. He is such a good, sweet boy!! Cocoa gets along well with kids and other dogs, large and small (he is currently with two Shih Tzus and absolutely adores them). He can NOT be in a home with cats. He needs some leash training but settles into a good pace after the initial excitement of going for a walk wears off. He sits nicely to get leashed up and going for walks is his absolute favorite thing to do. He does not really pay any attention to people we pass. Because of the rash he had, I got him allergy tested and he does have some allergies. His new owner/foster will receive that information. The food he is on is not expensive and makes it so he does not need to take allergy medicine. Cocoa is on Prozac daily for his anxiety but is otherwise very healthy. Cocoa will come with a huge, beautiful crate (furniture, not a typical crate $350 new), several outfits, shoes for the hot sidewalks and/or snow, his harness, backpack (for water & treats), feeding bowls, food, etc. I will also dog-sit at no charge for the indefinite future! I LOVE this boy very much. Some family is going to be VERY happy they took a chance on this shelter dog. He is deserving of the very bestest family.
