Good in a home with
Contessa is looking for a forever home with a family who has lots of love to give her. She hasn’t had much in her six years of life, so she really is glad for what she gets. She is content lounging in her bed most of the day; she is also happy to play with her toys—she prefers stuffed toys to balls—they are so much cuddlier! She misses her brother, since they had to be separated in foster care, and what she really wants, is to curl up next to another pet (she is partial to IGs) and she will be especially pleased to cuddle up next to YOU! She really appreciates a pat on her head and hearing words of love.
Her favorite part of the day is going for a walk—she is so thankful to be out smelling the world, and enjoying the warmth of the sun, that she does everything she can to be good on her leash. She wishes she could show you how fast she is, but knows pulling on the leash is not the way to do it—plus she knows she’ll get praise for being “good” and that’s when she is most fulfilled. Though riding in a crate in a car is not her idea of fun, she endured several trips to vet and now proudly taunts her clean bill of health and current shot record! Contessa will be grateful to find a home where her distinctive seal coat will be appreciated and affectionately rubbed.
Because she is so smart, Contessa has quickly learned many good manners: she will proudly sit, anxiously wait to be invited onto the couch, gleefully run to you when called, and watchfully stay. She prefers not be left alone, but still, she’ll cheerfully comply when told to get in her crate—she’ll appreciate it if you remember to give her bone to chew while you’re out. She is satisfied living with us, her foster family…she tries not to take it personally when our older IG wants nothing to do with her, and even obligingly serves as a “dance” partner for our 4th grader, but she hopes to soon find her “true love-home,” where she can truly bloom in repaying some TLC with her adoring looks, enthusiastic tail wagging, sweet disposition, and warm nuzzling.
