My Story

3/10/08 - Daisy is now in Whitehouse Station, NJ. 2/22/08 - Daisy is a one-year old, female Irish Setter who is looking for her forever home. She was rescued on 2/18 (her birthday) from a shelter in NJ. We don't know much about her previous owner, but do know that they did not have the time, energy or space for her. Daisy is extremely lovable, does well with children (was introduced to my six-year old nephew and did fine), and generally likes other dogs. She would probably be best with another male dog, who is young. Because she is so tall and gangly, she tends to try to pounce on my two girls and they don't like that. Daisy is working on her house training skills, and is getting better each day (I take her out every hour when I am home and if she is not crated). She is crate trained and does very well sleeping through the night and when we go out to work. She barks a little when we leave her in the day, but then quiets right down. At night, she goes right to sleep and stays quiet for the night. Daisy loves to run and will definitely need space to stretch her legs (which are very long). Daisy has a shiny red coat, but is a little on the thin side. She eats really well (she is so tall that she just lays down with her bowl) - she is eating Eagle Pack Duck and Oatmeal which is a very good food. Daisy was spayed and is up to date on all of her shots. This girl is amazing - she is not timid, but very submissive, there is not an aggressice bone in her body! She would make a fantastic addition to any new family that is familiar with Irish Setters and has the space for them to run. She is working on sit and house breaking. 2/18/08 - Hi, I just turned one today and these folks got me out of the shelter and now I am being fostered in Whitehouse Station, NJ. This youngster is sweet as can be, but needs considerable training. Her owner told us the neighbors were complaining about the barking and she was not housebroken, so he couldn't leave her inside alone. He said she was good with children, and at the shelter she has been fine with other dogs. We're looking for an owner who has previous experience with this breed or a similar breed and the time to take to train her properly to become part of the family. An application, vet reference, home visit and a drive to NJ a must to meet our dogs! Adoption fee required. To find out more about the Irish Setter breed, click here.
