Dog Name: Dalek Breed: Mixed Sex: Female Age: 7 months Weight: Approx 35 lbs Medical Needs: Dalek currently has a UTI she is being treated for. Housebroken: Not a hundred percent but is doing so much better with going out every couple of hours. Crate trained: Yes, she does beautifully in her crate but doesn't always want to go in it because being a house dog is more fun! Good in the car: Loves the car and prefers shotgun. Good on a leash: With a prong, she will walk nicely beside you. Without it, she will pull and may become nervous. Energy level: Puppy high! Need a fenced in yard: No, but it would be great for all that energy. Dog Friendly: Absolutely! Dalek loves all things canine. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Yes. A dog will be able to teach her what we hoomans can't and they are her comfort zone. Said other dog should be playful and patient with her, as she is an in-your-face kinda pup. Cat Friendly? Yes, but she seems to think they're puppies and wants to play! Kid Friendly: No If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed: A dog savvy teen who understands when and how to approach a dog. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Dalek is an adorable, affectionate, playful little pup who's always happy to see you and always has lots of kisses and cuddles to spare. Eventually. For reasons unknown and for as young as she is, Dalek is a very nervous girl who does not trust easily. She will bark at strangers, she will growl if they approach her, she may nip if they try to touch her and all because she is afraid of them. The secret to Dalek is not to do any of those things. The secret to Dalek is time and patience. Give her a quiet, comfortable home. Go about your business. Let her figure you out. Let her approach you. Let her see for herself that you're not going to hurt her. Once it clicks in her head that you are friend not foe, you'll see that lovable, mischievous, smart girl and fall completely in love with her. Dalek is well worth the wait. Be aware that it could take months, possibly years, to get her there but with love, patience and consistency, she can get there.
