Dare

Today’s #SaturdaySpotlight goes out to Dare! Dare is an approximately 1-2 year old pitbull mix that found himself surrendered to a high-kill shelter, and immediately placed on a euthanasia list. Luckily, we were able to pull him to safety just in time, and he’s been learning what it means to be a loved family dog in rescue ever since! Since being in rescue, he has been living well with other dogs, a young child, and has even met a kitty friend he did great with! He is crate trained (although he does need a steel crate), house trained, and all over Velcro dog who just wants someone to give him some structure and love. Since being with his foster, Dare was noted to be more anxious than our typical rescue dog. Luckily, his foster was able to fundraise on his behalf to send him to board and train with our amazing trainer Lisa at @consummate_canine, and he has continued to show what a quiet, sweet boy he is! Based on her recommendations, we are looking for an adopter with experience with anxious dogs, and his ideal home would be with a single person dedicated to working with him to overcome his fears and anxieties. We believe he can live well with a quiet, female dog, or with dog-friendly cats! He would also do well in a home with children 8+, as lots of noise and running about worsens his already-existing anxiety. All this being said, Lisa also told us she would be willing to work with Dare’s future adopters to help ensure they’re on the best path to success as he adapts to a new home!
