Darla

Age: Approx. 1 1/2 yrs. Weight: Approx. 40 lbs. Ideal Home: Adults and older kids (she prefers her humans to be females) in a low key, low traffic home; other dogs are possible pending meet and greet. Favorite Thing: Being in the car riding shotgun. Darla came to us very pregnant and promptly gave birth to an adorable litter of pups. They found their forever homes, but their beautiful, soulful-eyed mama is still waiting for hers. Darla is a shy girl but has branched out over the months she's been with us. After her pups were all adopted, Darla was able to start going on longer walks. Initially she was pretty overwhelmed by all the new sights, smells, and sounds; but she's come a long way since those early days and instead of keeping her tail tucked between her legs, she now holds it up proudly most of the time. Now that she's more confident, her world has gotten bigger as she goes for car rides and outings to parks. She is walked by a number of HumaneCNY's volunteer walkers; however, she prefers women to men. She is playful and energetic and really loves to romp around with her HumaneCNY canine BFF Jester. We think the best fit for Darla is a low key household with a predictable routine and family members who will offer plenty of TLC and a solid foundation upon which Darla can continue building her self-confidence.
