Although he is nervous around humans, Davey shows great promise to gain confidence with calm-natured people who can give him the patience and love he needs to grow. Davey has a sweet and calm nature, though he may seem uncertain and nervous when you first meet him. With time and trust, he is sure to blossom and come out of his shell. Despite his initial shyness, Davey has a little goofball side-his cute tongue often pops out, ready to take the perfect selfie. Currently, Davey does not walk on a leash and hasn't yet discovered the joy of treats. He would benefit greatly from a home with another confident dog to help teach him confidence and show him that people are safe and kind. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
