Denali

Denali is a be-oodle-ful boy. He's smart, loyal and a great protector. Denali spent his youth in an outdoor pen without a lot of socialization. As a result, he is leery of strangers (a little more grumpy around men), fearful of noises (like storms and door knocks) and unsure about other dogs (especially when meeting them on his home turf). He walks well on leash, but if the right thing catches his attention, he may pull and bark, needing redirection. If he is uncomfortable, he can be nippy. He also prefers to be free versus confined, and tends to be a bit high-strung and anxious overall. For these reasons, Denali's ideal home would be calm and quiet (without a lot of new people coming and going), a house versus an apartment, pet-free (so he can have 100% of his human's attention), without young children, and in a household where there's a human present more often than not. He likely won't be a match for high-stimulation environments like dog parks or doggie daycare, and will need slow intros when meeting other canines or humans. While he has quirks, he is highly intelligent, very snuggly and a very good boy. He knows sit-down-shake, loves learning tricks for treats, and will chase balls like a champ. He enjoys being the little spoon during cuddle time and as long as it's on his terms, he is very affectionate. He loves to be close to his humans, take long walks on quiet routes, and have zoomie time in a fenced yard. He is also potty trained. He would love a human to show him love, help him build confidence, and give him boundaries with positive reinforcement. Since Denali has a long coat, he will need adopter's committed to regular grooming. He also takes daily medicine for anxiety. Denali is a great boy who deserves a second chance at learning how to dog. He brings a lot of joy, the cutest of head-tilts, and an overall happy demeanor to the home. Interested in this sweet dog?
