Dusty-IN FOSTER

Meet Dusty! a 7 1/2-year-old senior fella whose friends would describe him as curious, sweet, and of course, handsome! Dusty is currently being pampered in a foster home during his heartworm treatment, but he'd still love to find his forever home at any time. Dusty is wicked smart. He gets more excited to eat dinner from a puzzle box than from a regular dish. He has also learned a lot of new tricks for a senior dog. When his fosters first took him in, he didn't seem to know any commands, but after less than a week and a lot of training treats, he learned come, sit, and touch. He is currently trying to master look and stay. Dusty loves to meet new people. He is cautious at first and might avoid eye contact, but still immediately approaches new friends for some neck scratches. He is gentle when taking treats and shows no resource guarding around his meals. In his home, he enjoys watching what his humans are up to, and being in the same room as them, while also being mindful of personal space. He only gets on the couch or bed when invited, and enjoys the occasional cuddle, but prefers to just hang out nearby. He seems a bit unused to relaxation and cuddles, but he is slowly learning that the world is safe and warms up a bit more every day, so he might turn out to be a solid cuddler! Dusty is good on a leash, but can get easily overwhelmed when seeing other dogs. He's working hard to learn how to dog,' and after his heartworm treatment, his fosters (or forever owner) are going to help him get a little more adjusted to the world of other dogs! Dusty makes his fosters laugh every day! His humor and energy are kind of low-key. For example, he's not an obviously goofy dog, but all of a sudden you'll hear a CHOMP, and it's Dusty trying to catch a moth in the air! Which he does successfully, thank you very much. He also catches his reflection in windows or mirrors regularly, and can't seem to figure out who that dog is. If you are looking for a silly companion with a more chill disposition, Dusty is your guy. Dusty only asks for a home without cats, please, and thank you. There is a lot more to learn about this bub!
