Eddie is looking for a home.
Eddie is a 30 lb Beagle/Lab mix, approximately 2 or 3 years old. He was adopted from us a little over a year ago. He’s a really good dog, great with kids, walks well on a leash, and enjoys playing with other dogs at the dog park. However, he is not a good fit for the neighborhood he currently lives in (Colonial Heritage, Williamsburg, which has a large dog population) in that he is quite reactive to other dogs he sees out on walks, or which he senses when out in the fenced yard. He reacts to these dogs by barking, and possibly simply wants to play with them. As such, it is difficult to leave him out in the yard for any length of time, as several of the neighbors also have fenced yards and he calls out to those dogs when they are out at the same time.
His family has tried various training methods but they don't feel he is happy in their home since he is constantly stressed when either walking on a leash with so many dogs around, or out in the yard. Therefore, they are looking to re-home him to a place where he would be happier. He would do well in a family with children and a somewhat isolated yard.
He is neutered, chipped, and up to date with vaccines, and on heartworm prevention.
For an application go to www.homesfurhounds.org. He is located in Williamsburg, Va.
