Ellen and siblings were an unwanted litter of puppies. Easiest way to not have this happen is to please spay and neuter your pets. Anyway, the owner contacted rescue near Decorah, Iowa where he lives but they were full. So we were contacted and took all 8 puppies in right away because owner threatened to shoot them. The rescue near Decorah is going help get the mother dog spayed thank goodness. All puppies went to our vet and got 1st shots and were dewormed. They are now living in a foster home.
1/29/10 Ellen is about 8 or 9 weeks old. Ellen has a small hernia that will have to be fixed when she gets spayed. But the vet think that it shouldn't cause any problems. She is the sweetest girl of them all and everyone at the vet office wanted to hold her! Just a little bit bigger then Amber but without the spunk!
3/11/10 UPDATE: Ellen is now about 16 wks old! She is growing up in foster care when she should be bonding with her forever family. APPLY TO MEET HER TODAY! 3/17/10 UPDATE: Little Miss Ellen is such a little sweety. However, don't let that fool you, she has quite a bit of spunk to her. She plays well with the other dogs and she just wants to make friends with the cats but she just ignores them for the most part. The other foster puppy likes to take chewies and toys away as she thinks everything is hers, but Ellen has learned to beat her at her own game and takes things from her first. It is really cute. Ellen is doing well with crate training, but still does have an accident from time to time, but they are less frequent now. We are working on leash training and it is going well. She likes to go for rides in the truck and does very well when she goes somewhere. She loves the water, she has had a couple of baths and has done excellent. She just sits there and lets me give her a bath. She has discovered that it is so much fun to go out and play in the puddles. Sometimes I think she does it just so she can have a bath. She is doing well with manners training. She will sit at the door when she goes out and even sits at the threshold when the door is open. Most of the time she will wait for me to go through first. She was jumping up a bit when she first got here but that has lessoned as she has learned some patience and that she will recieve a treat also. She loves to lay at my feet when I am on the computer and will occasionally follow me when I get up. She is a snuggler and a lover, but not a very big kisser. She is very smart and just wants to please. She is irrisistable when she looks at you with those little brown eyes, you just want to scoop her up and smother her with love.
4/2/10 UPDATE: Ellen is such a sweet and loving girl. She just wants to be your constant companion and loves attention. She lays at my feet when I am on the computer and will snuggle on the couch when allowed. She is going to be a big girl so she is learning her limits about being a lap dog. She is doing well with housetraining and keeps her kennel clean. She is quiet in her kennel and is not a real big barker. She mostly barks at the other dogs when playing. She is doing well with leash training but still needs some practice but she doesn't pull. We are going to do some more socializing as she is a little cautious in new situations, but she warms up quickly and LOVES everyone. She wants to see everyone she meets on a walk and say hi. She is good when meeting someone and will sit for the attention. She does occassionally jump but not often and does well when corrected. She knows sit and no and will come when called. She does well off leash, but will still need to be supervised or in a fenced yard as she could still wander if she catches a scent. She does not have any food aggression and gets along great with other dogs. She wants to play with the cats, but is not aggressive with them. She is just such a sweetheart that you just can help falling in love with her when you meet her. She is very smart and learns quickly and just wants to please. She is going to be an awesome dog!
Please be ready for the challenges of a puppy before adopting one....this little girl comes with a ton of love, but puppies are also a lot of work. Please have the time and commitment for a puppy before adoption.
Ellen must be spayed by her adopter when she is old enough and proof is required.
Will someone please adopt Ellen and give her a forever home? $95.00 adoption fee. ($50 is a spay deposit you will get back once we receive proof of her spay so that makes her adoption fee actually only $45)
