My Story

Elvis is a 1 1/2 year old Blue Heeler/Hound mix. He is DEAF. He was given up by his original owners at six months of age because of his deafness. He is crate trained and house trained. He's extremely friendly and loveable. He's always wagging his tail and he likes to give you big hugs! He wants very badly to be a lap dog but since he's too big he's happy to put his front legs in your lap and lay his head on your chest. He's very dedicated to his family and wants to be where he can see you. He gets along well with dogs and cats and loves people of all ages. He loves to take walks and go for rides in the car. He loves to run and play and has a lot of energy but he also likes to lay in bed with you and quietly chew on a chew stick. He is very smart and has picked up on the few hand signals his foster home has taught him. An obediance trainer has been working with him and she has taught him to sit, shake, and heel. She said he's a great student! Deaf dogs can learn up to 50 hand signals and sign language! Obediance school is a MUST for Elvis so his new family can learn how to talk to him via sign language and hand signals. A fenced yard will also be required because of his deafness. Despite his handicap, he's a great dog and will be a loving, dedicated member of the family!
