My Story

Meet Fani Louise, a unique Rottweiler who defies the typical breed appearance. Sadly, at some point, her ear flaps were cruelly removed, a painful and unnecessary procedure that serves no purpose other than to make her appear intimidating. Despite this trauma, Fani remains a happy and active 5-year-old, weighing 80 pounds, seeking a loving family who will embrace her regardless of her appearance. While she may be aloof with strangers initially, Fani quickly bonds and recovers in new environments. She communicates vocally, including growling, which should never be punished but rather respected as her way of expressing discomfort or playfulness. To thrive, Fani requires a home where she feels protected, with understanding caretakers who respect her boundaries and allow her to dictate the pace of affection. Positive interactions and patience will help build her confidence, requiring a breed-knowledgeable handler willing to prioritize her needs and guide her through uncomfortable situations. Fani's favorite pastime is window watching, particularly observing squirrels, showcasing her playful spirit and curiosity. While she may not be suited for households with children under 9 or small dogs, with proper introductions, she enjoys the company of dogs her size. If you're ready to offer Fani the understanding and love she deserves, a meet-and-greet could be the first step towards welcoming this resilient companion into your home. ———————————————————- The adoption donation for Fani is $250. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention (age appropriate). If you would like to meet this dog, you must have an approved application on file and be willing to travel to the Boardman/Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio area for a meet and greet. Applications will be reviewed/approved and each dog will be placed in the home that can best meet their individual need. A successful adoption is our goal. Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption of any dog. We require you call your established veterinarian asap to schedule a wellness visit. —————————- Our applications can be found by clicking on the “adoption application” link at https://apaprescue.com We recommend using a computer, laptop or tablet to fill out the application. Questions do not always show up in full on a phone. Leaving a field empty will result in the application not processing. If you get a grey screen, scroll down to see which field you left blank. Follow the prompt to continue. ————— **IMPORTANT ** Please note that when you use the “start an inquiry/introduce yourself” feature it is NOT an application to adopt. Adoption donation policy effective 1/1/23: Under a year - $350 cash/check $360 PayPal/Venmo Adult (1-9) - $250 cash/check $260 PayPal/Venmo Senior (10+) - $200 cash/check $210 PayPal/Venmo We apologize for the inconvenience of a service fee if you are using PayPal or Venmo. Each year we lose hundreds of dollars for their service fees, and their fees continue to rise. Every dollar matters and those lost dollars means less dogs we can fund and help. We are a 100% volunteer group that utilizes foster homes. We do not have a shelter/building. Thank you for understanding.
