My Story

Foxxy Cleopatra is a sweet, well-behaved bundle of love! She is house broken, and responds to the basic sit, stay, no, and come commands. She has had to wear a cone for the first few weeks with her foster family as her paws were healing from foxtail removal, but she doesn't fuss and she hardly ever barks Mostly just when the doorbell rings! She likes to go on walks and play with toys. She favors stuffed toys and squeaky toys. She gets along with all other dogs and humans that she meets. She has been a good companion for her foster family's own dog. She has a healthy appetite and is treat motivated. It seems she may have been getting some people food in the past. She is good about her routine of going to the bathroom right after she eats her breakfast. In foster, she prefers sleeping in the same room as her caregivers. This may be what she is used to from the past because she will whine at night or in the early morning if left to sleep in a separate room. Since she has been allowed to sleep in the bed, she has never been happier. She also loves to lay on her back in the crook of your arm and have her chest and belly rubbed. So cute, like a baby! Foxxy will be a delightful addition in her new forever home! Foxxy Cleopatra was transferred to Valley Humane on 6/17 from Stockton Animal Services. She had been found stray. Foxxy is an adult dog (estimated to be between 4 and 7 years old) and weighs 17.8 pounds. Foxxy Cleopatra has been diagnosed with Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), also known as dry eye. This is an eye condition that is caused by lack of tear production in the eye. KCS can be caused by viruses, neurologic disease or trauma, certain medications, ulcers, eye injuries, or eye infections. Foxxy was diagnosed with KCS by performing a Schirmer tear test which measures the tear production of the eye in one minute and results showed the eye had less than adequate tear production. Due to this condition, the animal will most likely need to stay on medication for life. If the condition progresses, enucleation of the eye may be needed. We highly recommend having this animal seen by your veterinarian or veterinary ophthalmologist as soon as possible after adoption in order to create a treatment plan.
