We got Freya from an overpacked Miami Shelter. She was brought in with her 2 week old puppies as a stray. While on her stray hold, she was so terrified in her kennel, that while trying to protect herself and her puppies, she was accidentally stepping on them. The shelter staff determined she was a danger to her puppies and asked a local rescue that specializes in neonates to take her babies. After they were unjustly attacked by the public for taking the puppies without her, despite them not being able to take Freya themselves and actively networking her to get her out of the shelter, they reached out to us for help. As it just so happened, we had just taken in 6 puppies from a mom who was also a danger to her puppies and others around her. So we decided to do a trade; we take in Freya and help her, and they take in 6 bottle baby puppies. It was an incredible collaboration rescue. Poor Freya was so terrified, she wouldn't even look at me when I picked her up. We got her home safely and let her decompress for the night. The next morning, she met her first doggy friend and oh lord it was like a whole new dog. Bless her little heart, Marco is 4 times bigger than her and she was so ecstatic for a friend, she did big zoomies and followed him around the yard everywhere. She now has her same size super bestie, Cleo, who helped her heal even more and learn how to love us humans too. Both Cleo and Freya are up for adoption and can be adopted together or separate. Freya is shy on her own, but with her friend by her side, she's ready to be loved. She still does her daily zoomies and its the cutest thing ever. She is a very happy little girl who is so ready to live her puppy-free life.
