Gaia is an extraordinarily friendly, happy, loving, affectionate Great Pyrenees. At under 1 year, she still has lots of playful, joyous puppy energy. She gets along very well with other dogs, with cats, and with humans.
Great Pyrenees are livestock guardian dog (LGDs); Gaia is alert to any potential threats to her family. LGDs bark -- loud, deep barks -- to let predators know that there is a guardian on duty. They are couch potatoes most of the time; when they are in working mode, however, they are powerful, strong-willed dogs, bred for centuries to think and make decisions on their own. Secure, sturdy fencing at least 6 feet high will prevent her from trying to chase away threats such as mountain lions. (Note that one Pyr cannot engage with a mountain lion -- you must have at least two if you want them to serve as guardians against lions or tigers or bears.)
Gai is very much a family dog who lives in the house. She is very social, and would like to be with people, and preferably another Pyr, most of the time. She is extremely biddable and cooperative. She is house trained and uses a dog door.
Gaia's soft, fluffy, snow-white coat will need combing out every day. It should never be cut or clipped -- just kept clean and matt free.
Gaia has been vet checked, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for parasites.
