Greta- READ BIO IN FULL!!

Meet Greta! This adorable and sweet Pekingese is looking for a very special family. She is a special needs gal. Greta came to us a few months back emaciated, severely matted and with substantial hair loss, not able to use her rear legs well, heartworm positive and a grade 4 heart murmur. She was and still is a hot medical mess. Greta had gained weight and now has a beautiful coat. Greta was taken to the cardiologist and diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse. There is no treatment available in the US for dogs at this time. Over the years she will likely develop symptoms of heart failure and require meds but as of now she is not on any medication. We are currently treating her heartworms with the “slow kill” method. Greta will need a family willing to take her for visits to a cardiologist for routine assessment. Greta’s rear legs have become stronger but she still has mobility/neurological issues with her rear end. She likely had had a herniated disc prior to rescue that was not addressed rendering her with permanent deficits. Greta walks and runs the house and can even do the dog door and three stairs without issue. She can walk around the block but if we go for a hike she cruises in her stroller or bjorn. Greta does have some elimination issues. She has never urinated in the house but as she is unable to position to poop she does still have accidents. Greta is extremely loving and when she hears children she becomes very excited. She loves all humans. She lives with me and my pack of dogs. She loves going for walks. Greta has tolerated puppies and new pack members without issue. Greta is likely about 6ish years old and 12lbs. I know Greta, who I fondly call “Little G”, will not be the easiest pup to find a furever for but I know there is someone out there who will love her and be able to provide all she will ever need!
