He is just as happy to lay at your feet while you eat as he is to lay in your lap while you watch a movie. He loves to look at your face to be sure you are happy and will wag his tail with every glance, word, and touch that comes his way. He wants to please his people, and will thrive in a home where he will be loved, hugged, kissed, and petted often. Jay is not overly energetic, liking long naps as well as occasional play sessions and long walks. He also likes a fenced-in yard, where he can wander around and watch the world. He doesn't chew on furniture, his bed, or other objects, but he does like to destroy stuffed and rubbery toys as quickly as possible! He is a dream on a leash, but, due to his traumatic history, he doesn't love to wear his harness all the time and may try to chew on it if left alone with it too long. His coat is thick and very wavy down his back and tail. He sheds an average amount, and is getting used to having his nails done with a grinder. Interactions with Other Animals He is excellent with other dogs and has experience being around livestock safely (though he is very interested in other animals, he doesn't bark or chase). We are unsure how he will behave with cats. Given his curiosity and laser-focused attention, we would say no small animals for this one. Origin Story This sweet boy was rescued from Memphis, TN, animal control when he was scheduled to be euthanized. He was in rough shape, with burns of some type on the back of both his ears.
