JuneBug Adopted

"Junebug" is now in foster care in Arkansas and doing wonderful! She really needs a dog to play with and is very happy! She should be with a family that has a playful dog and needs a companion! Junebug is working on her housetraining and doing very well. She is fast as lightening and can jump so high! Please help us find her a home!

History:

June came back to the shelter, as her owners do not have time to put the effort in with June! Our partner shelter is heartbroken she is back, and determined to find her a forever home. She is all legs now.

June is such a sweetheart. She LOVES to be up in your lap and cuddled! She walks well on a leash and free roam and is semi-potty trained. Her previous home did not wish to crate train her and we are in the process of doing this now. We expect her to get the hang of it in no time!

June also LOVES chew toys, as all young dogs do! She will find other things to chew on if you don't have any so we are keeping her in steady supply! ,P. She is friendly with other dogs, great with cats and children and very gentle spirited. We are having a great time getting to know her, one of our employees took her home for a few days to foster and she will be placed in a foster home once we have begun a crate training regime. June loves attention and becomes depressed and bored if she doesn't get it. She is NOT the right dog for a family where she is left alone for LONG periods of time. A busy young family or semi-retired person would be wonderful!

We know a loving home is out there for sweet Juno who can give her all the love and time she deserves. Please help us give her her second chance!

If this Dog is marked Urgent, it is because the Arkansas shelter where he/she resides is overfull. Please do not ask local shelters to take this dog in, there are many reasons why they cannot. Please also do not send us letters about why we euthanize, AHR does not euthanize, but the shelters we work with do. We are a rescue and we pull as many dogs as we have foster homes and funds for. We, like the shelter, do not have unlimited resources. Please, please: foster, adopt or sponsor a dog to help save their lives.

FOR PUPPIES: HOMES CONSIDERING PUPPIES MUST BE PREPARED FOR:

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULES FOR POTTY TRAINING-THEY CAN ONLY "HOLD" IT FOR ONE HOUR PER MONTH OF AGE.

CRATE TRAINING FOR THE NEXT 10 MONTHS TO KEEP THEM FROM CHEWING EVERYTHING IN SIGHT.

SUPERVISION WITH CHILDREN, AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING.

SOCIALIZATION-A GOOD DOG MUST BE EXPOSED TO ALOT OF STIMULUS AS A PUPPY SO THAT NEW PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENTS DO NOT INTIMIDATE THEM AS ADULTS. THE MORE POSITIVE EXPERIENCES -IN AND OUT OF THE HOME- AS A PUPPY, THE BETTER.

HOMES THAT WANT TO HAVE GOOD DOGS, MUST BE PREPARED TO PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO TRAINING A PUPPY. IT IS ALOT OF WORK!!! THEIR BEHAVIOR AND STAGES ARE EQUIVILENT TO A 2 OR 3 YEAR OLD CHILD. IT TAKES A FULL YEAR TO HAVE A CALMER, WELL ADJUSTED DOG! PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER ADOPTING IF YOU HAVE NOT THOROUGHLY THOUGHT THROUGH THE PROS AND CONS OF A PUPPY...SO MANY PEOPLE END UP RETURNING THEM IN 3-5 MONTHS BECAUSE IT IS CHEWING, JUMPING AND HYPER. THIS IS NORMAL PUPPY BEHAVIOR.

PATIENCE, CHEWIES, SOCIALIZATION, SUPERVISION AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING IS A MUST!!

. We pay a Transportation Service from Arkansas to bring the dogs to New England. The adoption fee is $300 for dogs up to 6 months of age, $250 for dogs 7 months-5 years, and $200 for dogs 5 years and older. This includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, and transport from Arkansas to Maine on a USDA approved transport with a Health Certificate. All dogs are quarantined 14 days prior to leaving Arkansas. All dogs will be tested for Heartworm prior to adoption. Almost Home Rescue will process your adoption.
