My Story

Update 5/24: ADOPTED!

Kippy and Margo met their new momma, a most special adopter who has committed to making these darlings part of her loving family. They were introduced to their new Pemmie brother who happily tools around in his canine cart without a care in the world! In no time all three were exploring the back yard together and seemed to enjoy each others company immensely.

We just L-O-V-E happy endings!!

Kippy and Margo are purebred Cardigan Welsh Corgi seniors. Adoption donation required. They MUST be adopted together as they have spent most of their lives in each other's company. A fenced yard is required for their everyday enjoyment - no exceptions. Their caretakers reside in Kirkwood Missouri (St. Louis area) and will consider placement for them within a 2 hour drive of St. Louis Missouri.

Please email us at [email protected] or call 314-779-7882 if you are interested in adding Kippy and Margo to your family and we will put you in touch with their caretakers.

Senior pets make wonderful companions and Kippy and Margo are no exception. They are in need of a fresh start through no fault of their own. Their beloved owners had to move into an assisted living situation and continued ownership was not an option. Kippy and Margo are currently residing with family members who know them well and care about their welfare, but who are not in a position to keep them themselves.Their breeder was contacted to let them know this pair has been displaced but that their original owner's extended family remains committed to caring for them until just the right new family can be found for this darling pair.

Their former owners were retired and led a quiet life. Margo and Kippy would probably do well in an adult home with a quiet routine, or one that includes older considerate children (ages 10 and up) that are respectful of animals and used to dogs. They must be kept as indoor companions and be an integral part of the family. Someone that can include them in their everyday routine; perhaps working at home, or coming home to check on them midday, retired, or with opposite work schedules would be ideal.

Margo is black (some brindle markings on her feet) and white in color, was born June 7, 1997 and is forever young at heart. She has a youthful air about her and certainly is spry and fit for a girl her age. She has a trim figure and weighs about 35 pounds. Without a doubt she is the leader of this darling duo and Kippy is content to follow her lead. She is a friendly and approachable girlie and is ever ready for a belly rub or an ear scritch.

Kippy was born October 11, 2001 and is just 6.5 years old. He is a striking blue merle color and sports 2 blue eyes. He has maintained a nice lean build and weighs about 35 pounds. Kippy is darling and certainly enjoys the companionship of his family, but shows himself to be wary and a bit worried when meeting newcomers. He needs time to make friends on his own terms and tasty tidbits tossed his way can sometimes make the process easier. He will thrive with a family who can help build his confidence and give him the space and time he may need to feel comfortable in a new setting. When he is unsure, he woofs softly to let you know he is close by but would like to have more time to get to know you better. In May of '02 Kippy was seen by a local orthopedic specialist veterinarian with Veterinary Specialty Services. He had an ulnar ostectomy procedure on his front right leg to correct for elbow dysplasia. He fully recovered from surgery and has had no apparent concerns since then. He appears to bear weight fine and remains active and ever ready for some action!

Both Margo and Kippy have just recently been seen by a vet, and are spayed/neutered. Both were heart worm tested in '07 and were kept on heartworm preventative, and their vaccinations have been kept up to date. They appear to have some arthritis which is commonly seen in middle age and older dogs. They are sometimes a little stiff first thing in the morning or after a long nap but then they find their stride and enjoy their everyday. Kippy and Margo are house trained and crate trained. They have had no formal obedience training per se, but are easy to live with and have nice house manners. They do enjoy daily walks for some gentle exercise and fresh air and their tails start to gently wag in anticipation as soon as they see their leashes. They like to walk out in front when out and about the neighborhood but do adjust their pace to suite yours.

Margo and Kippy would do best as the only dogs in the family. They did not live with other dogs and although they are ok seeing other dogs at the park they do carry on a bit around other canines, and it is felt they would do best as the only pets. At one time they lived with a cat but it has been over 3 years since then, and it is unknown how they would do with a cat now.

Please consider adopting Kippy and Margo. They can offer love and devotion in exchange for the same. They simply ask to share their twilight years with a family of their very own, one that will cherish them every day. Their beds, plastic crates, leashes, food and beloved chew bones are included with their adoption.

If you are interested in adoption, please fill out an Application prior to contacting us. Our adoption information page has detailed information on the adoption process, and should answer most of your questions.
