My Story

At an estimated age of 10 months on 12/22/03, Leo weighed 25.7 pounds. A handsome little guy who smiles continuously, Leo stands only 17 inches at the shoulders and is about the same length from the base of the neck to the base of his tail. His beautiful coat shouldn't be that much trouble to keep with routine brushing. He was rescued from an Appalachian, WV high-kill shelter just before Christmas in anticipation of the mass euthanasia which normally precedes holiday closures at pounds. Just one of many beautiful dogs in danger of death, Leo made sure that he was one of the lucky ones rescued by putting on a real show to get every visitor's attention, dancing around on his hind legs and looking like a dancing "teddy" bear. Leo is no stranger to standing on his hind legs. He likes to give bear hugs standing on his hind legs and wrapping his front legs around your waist. (If you don't want to be hugged all the time, Leo is not the dog for you unless you obedience train this affectionate gesture out of him.) He also dances upright when he thinks there is a chance he will get a treat. He has everything going for him: youth, cute and affectionate personality, beauty and a contagious joy. While he loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home ranging from 7 to 80 lbs., he's always ready for human affection. Another canine family member in his adoptive family would help to mitigate the constant attention this "velcro" boy desires. He appears to be housetrained as his foster mom has not caught him having any "accidents". Leo has been vaccinated, tested negative for heartworms, started on heartworm preventative, and neutered. His adoption fee to defray rescue/vetting expenses is $140. To find out more about Leo, please email or call Kim Perry at (606) 638-0512.
