Lisa has a face that will tug at your heart. Her little underbite gives her an adorably pugnacious look, but Lisa is a puppy who is all about the love.
She has an open and direct eye contact that is wonderfully expressive. Her small body favors a cocker spaniel's in shape and length, but her legs are shorter, and her tail is beautiful and long with an elegant plumage. Overall, she is a delightful combination of impressions as she trots about with her feathers and plumes, happily regarding the world and curiously surveying its resources for opportunities that might please her even more.
Lisa loves her chew toys and fluffy toys; she delights in running and playing with smaller dogs. But Lisa's favorite pursuits are the ones that get her closest to her care providers. She has developed such unabashedly persuasive powers of getting belly rubs and snuggling that she produces laughter constantly in her foster home.
Lisa craves attention, and she is so pleasing as to be completely irresistible. Her adopters may find themselves walking a fine line while raising her, as the most natural response to Lisa is to create a Lisa-centered universe, which may be her personal goal.
However, Lisa is, for all her looks and attention seeking, a dog of great intelligence and spirit. She has learned basic house training, and is working on other commands and leash work quite admirably. Shy when she first meets new people or dogs, she is working hard not to be too vocal; her adopter(s) will doubtlessly want to help her in this regard through calm and positive instruction.
Attention and affection have given Lisa the assurance and confidence to develop into one of the most endearing little puppies imaginable. Her "early childhood" was not so kind to her, and it has been a privilege to witness her extraordinary resilience and her irrepressible newfound joy.
Lisa is a very promising dog, and her confident and loving personality shows no signs of anything but happiness and good will. However, she has a few small quirks to be addressed. Lisa will need ongoing attention during her early months in her new home - food protectiveness, and her reactive barking. These behaviors are entirely understandable given her past of benign neglect (she was at one point kept in a closet along with her brother, mother and father -- a location where both food and attention were in short supply) and Lisa's resilience, sweet nature and intelligence suggest that she will have no problem moving past these behaviors with loving and consistent training from her new owner(s), who should expect complete success in their efforts with her.
Her adopter(s) can also expect a young dog of keen intelligence, great heart, and faith in humans that is - well, we think it is inspirational.
